I first toured the Getty as a high school senior, and still vividly remember standing in front of a specific sculpture, taking in its details while my friends moved on and left me behind. When I saw the Getty news, it's the first thing I searched for.

Bust of Winter

The intensity of the eyes--stern and reassuring, searching and knowing--is what caught me. It took awhile, but I eventually let my gaze move to the mouth, the bearded jaw, the design edging the cowl. It's an image that has stayed with me for about twenty-five years. Now it's on my screen.
