Because a bunch of tweets and posts over the last few days has me curious about who shares what knowledge...

At the moment you are reading this:

1.  Can you tell me who Hugh Howey is and what he wrote?

2.  If you do know, about how long have you known?

3.  Can you tell me which major publishers have partnered with Author House?

4.  Can you tell me when that happened?

I know the answers, so am just looking for who else has heard the information.

Self-pubbed author who wrote "Wool" and turned it into a series. Read about it in an article a few weeks back.

Re: Author House, Simon & Schuster and at least a couple other major publishers. Read about it via twitter & Writer Beware some months ago.

A bunch of guys (Nicolls was one) were talking about it a few months ago. I forget why I didn't check it out, but I vaguely recollect that WOOL didn't sound like my cuppa. (I might be wrong about that, and it might have been around the time I was dealing with several funerals of close people)

1) Don't know Hugh Howey or what he wrote
2) N/A
3) Um. Simon and Schuster? Only know that much because I read some folks' emails/posts about Random House
4) When what happened? The partnership? No clue on that.

My online activity is pretty limited, though, so I miss a lot!

Howey wrote & self-pubbed WOOL, is represented by Kristin Nelson, and published in print with S&S. Have known about him since 2009, when a goodreads friend recommended his YA sci-fi, Molly Fyde (which I started, but never finished.)

In which case, Simon and Schuster partnered with AuthorHouse for assisted self-publishing services (essentially) and offered bloggers some sort of bribe for doing their advertising work.
