I've been reading a few martial arts autobiographies and how-to-teach books.  Quality has been hit and miss.  Mostly miss.  By-a-mile miss.  After the last one, which read as if the writer had grown bored about halfway through his own story, I decided I needed to quit fretting about whether mine would be "good enough."

So I said to Dev, "I just need to relax about it.  I'm making this way harder than it needs to be."

Son threw his hands up in the air.  "Well, no shit, Mom!  Finally!  She figures it out!  She doesn't have to be perfect!"

And really...  If Supershark can make it, what the hell am I so worried about?

What I need to do is finish the projects.  June is looking spectacular on the time-to-write front.  No tournaments, no camps, no brand-new garden projects, no personal training clients.  Everything else is on a wonderfully condensed summer schedule.

The next revision round on Chant will be the last.  Then it'll go out for copyediting and formatting, and I shall call it finished.  There are many, many new and exciting things I want to do with my stories, and within Chant's world in particular, but I need to stop trying to do all the neat and special things right now, in one book.  Chant needs to be done.

I need to move on to the next fiction project.  And complete the non-fiction ones.  The only thing standing between me and the possibilities of opportunity is the fact projects have been in-progress rather than in completion.

My newest !Coolest Revision Tools Ever! is Kindle's text-to-speech feature.  Letting it read aloud to me while I read along with the print catches lots of little errors, weird phrasings, and such.
