The dear and wonderful [livejournal.com profile] asakiyume tagged me for the meme, and I like playing along so...

The idea is to go to the 7th page of your current WIP, go down to the seventh line, and share the next seven lines. But I'm not going to tag seven other writers because, as she says, that's a lot folks! So I'm going to leave it wide open to any and all who want to play here in the comments or on their own site.

Here's the seven after the first seven of the seventh (which sounds rather Biblical, yes?) from Breath of Stone:

...and the hurt was growing harder to ignore. The fog snaking through his thoughts warned Pyrius he had yet to feel the worst.

A pair of scuffs over grit was all the warning Ehren gave before he tackled the Blade. Aleena snatched up the crossbow as he fell, cranked it, and dropped a new bolt in the groove. By the time Ehren yanked the man to his feet, arm hooked around his neck, Aleena had the crossbow leveled and steady.

"It's a very tight trigger," the man rasped, empty hands held out.

Aleena tapped the trigger to make him flinch. "Then you'd better talk fast and true."

Now! Who wants to play? :)

Aaaahhhhhhh! These characters!! I miss them so much! So good to see this.

KEEP WORKING. Though, I will say in a comment elsewhere momentarily, it sounds like you're doing good work in other areas as well :-)

Really, I'm making some excellent progress. It's much easier in Colorado, even accounting for other... things.

"Let's try the depot, then. There's one at the spokes."
For a moment, they looked eager, but then their exhaustion took over. They plodded on.
And then she stopped. A shadow had fallen on the wall ahead. Human-shaped and moving. For a moment her heart seemed to stop.

Herkimer stood, handed his gavel to the nearest person without looking, and said, "I would appreciate it if you would not call upon me again until you have decided to regard something as a serious matter."
The next vote named the settlement Sirius Mater.
The next discussion after that, Arbiter Herkimer stated: "A new policy is now in effect. The sole qualification for a colonist to be eligible to vote is being armed, and anyone may go armed. This will guarantee a stable society, as nobody who isn't willing to back up what he says

*g*

It gets more so.

Ever read any of the series? There is one human world which never participates in any war against the kzinti, and they certainly have never been occupied by the kzinti. HOODOO explains what gives.

It's been awhile since I've read one in the series, which likely means I'm due for some updating and re-reading!
